Mistral is merging Vibe Chat and Work into one experience

Mistral Vibe is moving quick chat and multi-step Work into one conversation view. See how Skills, Deep Research, Memories, and rollout timing change.

Quick answer

Mistral is folding its older Vibe Chat tab into Work, so quick conversations and multi-step tasks can use the same conversation list and fast/think control. Free, Pro, and Teams accounts are migrating progressively; Enterprise migration starts October 1, with admins choosing when to move. This documentation-based guide explains the feature changes and rollout without claiming every account has already switched.

One conversation can handle quick chat or a longer task

In the unified Vibe experience, users can ask a quick question or start a multi-step task from Work. The fast/think control selects a quicker conversational response or deeper, agentic work in the same conversation, instead of choosing a separate Chat or Work tab.

Older Chat features have new places in Vibe

Mistral maps several legacy Chat tools to features in Work. This matters if you have saved workflows or preferences tied to the older tab.

  • Chat Agents become reusable Skills, which you can invoke with @.
  • Deep Research is available as a Skill for research with sources.
  • Memories migrate into a Knowledge Base topic that you can review and manage.
  • Temporary Chat starts a conversation outside history and the Knowledge Base.
  • Code Interpreter runs in a native sandbox in Work and is available on paid plans. It is separate from Vibe Code, the developer mode for codebases and terminal work.

The migration is gradual, with a separate Enterprise schedule

Mistral says progressive migration for Free, Pro, and Teams accounts began September 14, 2026. Enterprise migration starts October 1; administrators can choose a migration date within an approximately six-month window or trigger the merge sooner. If the legacy Chat tab is still available to your account, Mistral says its features continue working as before until migration.

Check the output you need before choosing an AI app

A quick answer, a reviewed multi-step task, and an editable workbook are different needs. Mistral's Vibe update changes where its tools live; it does not establish that those tools are available in Chat AI. Compare supported models, modes, and file workflows against your own task before choosing.
